Rhassoul Clay Part 2

Image
I finally used the rhassoul clay last Saturday. I mixed it with rose water and also added some essential oils to make a thick(ish) paste. I didn't use measurements, I just eyeballed it. I put my hair in sections, wet it in the shower, used a T-shirt to blot out excess water and then applied the mask. The rhassoul clay on my hair.   My period came that day so I didn't really pay massive attention to my hair after I washed out the mask. However with the bentonite clay I noticed the difference instantly . My curls "popped" and my hair felt soft and smooth. With this mask I only noticed that my hair was clean (since I had pre-pooed it the night before with macadmia and castor oil). I didn't notice any considerable difference.  I have also used it on my face this week (a mix of rhassoul and water) and noticed that it doesn't work in the same way as it does when I do the bentonite clay/acv mix. I do wonder though, what effects I would have if I mixed the

My Hair Journey

Journey is a good word for it, because my god, it’s been a journey. This is a long one!   I was natural until I was 12/13. Since my mother generally did low manipulation styles on my hair growing up, my hair was quite long. My mum didn’t know how to do cornrow, which was a pain when I was younger but looking back, that probably was a testament to the good health of my hair as a child. My mum would do big plaits or twists on my hair as a child, and if I had any special occasions, my mum would pay a hairdresser to cornrow my hair.   I have always had a thick, full head of hair. It sounds like a blessing but it can also be a curse, due to the length of time my hair would take to do and the amount of pain I would be in while my hair was getting done. I remember that I absolutely hated getting it done. I would always cry and have a sore head afterwards. I remember my mum used to wash my hair in the bath with a bucket, which she would fill with water and pour it over my head. There was none

Rhassoul Clay

Rhassoul Clay Moroccan Rhassoul (also known as Ghassoul) clay It finally came! I love my DIYs. I have to say that is one part of natural hair care that I enjoy the most. I have tried bentonite clay in the past, which I loved, but I am always up for trying new things. I have heard quite a few naturals talk about the joys of rhassoul clay so I’m keen to try it. I’m planning to mix the clay with rosewater and maybe some essential oils! I am not keen on doing too much mixing it with too much other stuff because I found when I did that with the bentonite clay, it would “weaken” the effects of the clay – both as a face and hair mask. One thing I really love about the clays is the ability to have more control and knowledge about what you are putting in your hair. I still love a good shampoo (Shea Moisture JBCO shampoo reigns supreme for me) but I am keen to use more natural products in my hair. I bought this one on Amazon for £6.94. There's 500 grams inside, so that should yield a conside

Quarantine Natural Hair!

Quarantine Natural Hair! Let’s talk about it! I’m a 4c girl with thick and dense strands, so the struggle is real! I have the type of hair that broke combs, caused hairdressers to cuss, caused many, many, many tears, et cetera, et cetera. My hair blow-dried Quarantine has been a low-key blessing for my hair. I have barely needed to style my hair (I usually throw on a head wrap for Zoom meetings). I mainly put my hair in either big plaits or twists after I wash it and just have that for the weeks before I wash my hair again. I co-wash my hair in between the times that I shampoo and I usually leave those twists/plaits in while I co-wash it. Aesthetically it’s not amazing  but it is a protective style for my hair as it doesn’t require any manipulation after the plaiting is done. As basic as this! Lol 😅 With regards to my ends – my biggest problem area for a long, long time – I went on a hacking rampage earlier in the year where I was searching and destroying – simply snipping off any spl
